Repeated routine

Routines for babies are great because things are more predictable. I’ve been reading Gina ford’s contented little baby, and she is a believer of routine and schedules so that life as a parent would be easier. However, when the routine is not a good routine, it actually worries me more.

My baby is kind of having same routine of fussing at the same timing, fussing even though she is being fed. Confinement period is ending soon and the confinement lady would soon be returning home. I am indeed getting a little anxious about how I am going to handle this fussy baby. I am sure I can get through this but it can get frustrating when she isn’t calmed.

Bottle feeding

I think entering into motherhood is a lifelong learning journey and there are lots of decisions to be made. One of those would be bottle feeding. When should we give the bottle? How many feeds do we give bottle? Which feed should we feed bottle? Would bottle feeding slow my milk supply? Would baby prefer bottle instead of latching? So many questions. Honestly, I have no answers too.

But like most mothers and I’m sure it is quite a common knowledge or understanding that during the 1st mth, infants shouldn’t be fed bottle so that they are not confused with nipples and teats. Like my friends, they introduce bottles really soon and has the luxury of not tiring themselves because babies drink faster from bottles than from latching. However, I have friends as well, the babies just refused the bottle. I’ve got a friend who even resorted to leaving the home to make baby hungry so that the father could feed the bottle but the baby chose to be hungry and waited for the mum to be back. All these I’ve heard before I gave birth.

Arrival of baby Jan

So, my hubby and I named our first born Jan. A variation of Jane that means gracious gift of God. Yes, we are Christians and it wasn’t an easy journey especially for the hubby. He was a staunch Taoist/Buddhist to now a believer of Christ, after like…. 8 years or so. His personal journey of turning from a staunch Taoist/Buddhist to a believer of Christ, is definitely a testimony that I would like to share but not now.

As my title suggests, it’s about the arrival of baby Jan. Nothing much has changed (yet) as I’m still in my confinement period and that she is only 3weeks old. Till the confinement lady leaves, I guess that would be the greatest challenge that I might face: handling the baby all by myself. As my friend suggests, let my maternal instinct lead me.

After birth

The 1st week after birth

It has been a long time since I last blogged. Decided to start blogging again to pen down my journey as a wife, mom and of course my latest addition to the family, baby Jan.

It has been 3 weeks since the birth of Jan, and I am definitely happy to have her existence. However, the pregnancy journey was by far the easiest part, after birth, going through post natal (or hormonal changes as my friends termed it) emotional ride, was one that I definitely didnt expect.
